Keycaps Sculpt

Spherical deep dish

Meticulous care went into sculpting the dish as deep yet as continuous as possible for a smooth touch while still expressing character.

Flat top edge

The flat top edge is a bespoke choice. Contrary to other designs it does not deform to serve the spherical profile of the dish.

Convex side walls

In the tradition of spherical keycaps the profile features a slight convex shape which underlines the curved nature of the top surface.

Skirt lips

The addition of the vertial extruded bottom edges imbues an exalted appearance of the overall design.

Convex modifiers

To maximize comfort, the bottom row features convex touch areas for the modifier keys. An increased front fillet also provides a smoother edge.

Row Profile

Rows are numbered from 1 ("function" or "numbers" row) to 5 (space bar), following established standards.

Mind that in the URSA profile, the bottom row's default shape is convex. This is non-standard, and makes typing on the bottom row keys with the thumbs (or pinkies) a more precise and comfortable experience.

The row profile was developed with an incline of 6 degrees, a good average of popular Topre keyboards. It feels great on HHKB, Realforce and Leopold alike. The touch area inclination and distance was refined for short key travel.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is URSA compatible with MX switches?

No, URSA keycaps are not compatible with MX switches. They were designed exclusively for Topre® compatible sliders only, which use a completely different stem design.

Is URSA compatible with my keyboard?

Check out our compatibility list above to see if your keyboard is supported. If you don't see your keyboard listed, first make sure it uses Topre stems. If it does, shoot us an email at contact@fkcaps.com and we'll help you figure out compatibility.

Are URSA keycaps made of PBT or ABS?

URSA keycaps are made from PBT (polybutylene terephthalate). PBT is widely considered the superior material for keycaps due to its resistance to shine, excellent texture retention, and durability over time. Unlike ABS, PBT keycaps maintain their feel and appearance even after years of heavy use.

Are URSA keycaps dye sub or doubleshot?

URSA keycaps are doubleshot, not dye sublimated. This means the legends are formed by molding two separate layers of plastic together: one for the legend and one for the keycap body. The result is legends that will never fade or wear off since they're part of the keycap structure itself, going all the way through the cap.

How thick are URSA keycaps?

URSA keycaps are 1.5mm thick, which is the industry standard for high-quality keycaps. This thickness provides an excellent balance between durability and acoustics.

Do kits include support for ISO and JIS keyboards?

Not yet! ISO and JIS support will require new molds, but they're definitely on our roadmap. We'll get there eventually! Want to be notified when they're available? Subscribe to our email updates at the bottom of this page.

Will there be other colorways?

Absolutely! We're planning more colorways, though we don't have an ETA just yet. Sign up for email notifications (at the bottom of this page) and you'll be the first to know when new colors drop.

Do I need to mod my Realforce 87U to use URSA keycaps?

Nope, no modding needed! The Realforce 87U uses a rotated stem on the 1.5u Ctrl key on the left side of the bottom row. We've got you covered: that specific keycap with the rotated stem is included in the extension kit. It's the only rotated stem keycap we make, and we included it specifically for this popular keyboard.

I purchased during the preorders, can I add to my order?

You can't add to your preorder directly, but place a new order instead, for just the items you want to add as extras. We will merge the preorders and extras before shipping.

Important: Only use this code if you placed a preorder AND are shipping to the same address. If you use this code without meeting both conditions, your order may be cancelled.

I can't find my preorder content, where is it?

Has my preorder shipped already?

Preorders ship first, before any extras go out. All preorders should ship by the end of November, and you'll receive an email with your tracking number once your order ships.

Shipping FAQ

Where do you ship from?

We ship from China. For preorders and the earliest extras orders, we'll ship DDP (Delivered Duty Paid) to the EU and US. This means all taxes and duties are prepaid, so you won't owe anything upon delivery. After the initial batch, we can't guarantee DDP shipping will still be available for all regions.

Do you ship to my country?

We ship worldwide!

That said, if you live in any of the countries below we apologize in advance for the extended transit times and hope to offer express shipping options in the future:

South American countries, Russia, Israel and the Philippines

Will I pay tariffs / custom fees when receiving my order?

For preorders and early extras orders, we're shipping DDP (Delivered Duty Paid) to the EU and US, which means all customs fees and duties are prepaid: you won't pay anything extra upon delivery.

After the initial batch, we can't guarantee DDP shipping everywhere. Generally, we don't have much visibility into customs fees as they vary by country, but when we ship DDP, you're covered.

When will URSA orders ship?

Preorders will ship first and should all go out by the end of November. Extras will ship after all preorders have been fulfilled.

Which company are you shipping with?

We ship to nearly all countries using SF Express. While they may not be the fastest option out there, their rates allow us to keep shipping costs reasonable for our customers. As a smaller operation without high-volume shipping contracts, rates with other carriers are unfortunately prohibitive. We are setting aside reserve stock specifically to handle any lost packages, so you're covered if anything goes wrong in transit.

Are shipments tracked?

Yes, all orders include tracking numbers. You'll receive an email with your tracking information once your order ships. If your package gets lost during transit, we'll send you a replacement. We're keeping stock on hand specifically for this purpose.
