tectonicplate

tectonicplate is a US-based graphic designer who's been around the keyboard community for years, first tinkering with 40% boards and lately with music synthesizers. By day he runs a small agency doing more traditional graphic design, and keyboards are where he gets to let his typography and color work off the leash.

We met when we were about to produce our first MBK dye-sub set. He turned up with serious skills and a deep feel for the hobby, and went on to design the first MBK Legend‡ sets. The typography and iconography he drew were so distinctive, and so timeless, that they still look right years and many sets later.

That work has aged beautifully. We liked it enough to carry it across to the LPF profile, and he's since designed DSA Way and the Boilerplate legends for PFF. His hand shows up across more of our catalog than anyone else's.

tectonicplate makes the work easy. He takes a brief, asks the right questions, and comes back with something better than we'd pictured. After this many sets together, we mostly just get out of his way.
